Who We Are

We aim to be a friendly & welcoming group of Christians

Barton Evangelical Church has been in existence since 1975 when a small group of Christians started meeting together for mid-week bible study & prayer.

After a couple of years (& a lot of prayer & planning!), the decision was made to start an Evangelical Church in the town.

From the very beginning we have sought to be a friendly & welcoming group of Christians. We are made up of all different types of people, but we are all united in our commitment to the truths of historic, biblical Christianity.

We are led by our Minister, Jeff Higgins, as well as two others Elders (Derek Carr & Michael Stanfield). The Church is also served by a number of Deacons.

We meet every Sunday at 10:30am & 6pm, as well as other meetings & groups throughout the week. Throughout the year – especially around Easter & Christmas – we organise special events & services.

We enjoy friendship & partnership with other Churches in the local area, as well as nationally through our affiliation with the FIEC & the Affinity network.

As a Church we believe it is our privilege & responsibility to partner with those who are involved in the worldwide mission of the Church to, “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We support, both prayerfully & financially, the work of the Spanish Gospel Missionthe Sahara Desert Mission, and a lady who is planning to work in Central Asia.
