Barton Evangelical Church
Who We Are
The church was begun in 1977 by a group of local people having a concern to teach and preach the word of God - the Bible.
The church belongs to the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) - a grouping of some 480 churches throughout the UK. The FIEC is connected with other evangelical churches within the UK.
We use the term “evangelical” in the historic sense - meaning Bible believing and teaching - and not as representing an excitable and emotional style of conducting worship that many may find disturbing or even funny.
Our services are what many would recognize as traditional in structure, with modern hymns and songs being sung, as well as traditional hymns.
We believe God's word to be true and, as a result, relevant for modern life and all its pressures and changes. We try to show the relevance of the word of God to our lives and in our services God's word is taught and preached in a clear and relevant way.
The church has a range of activities and meetings for all ages; see the individual pages for nore details. In addition to these meetings we also visit an old people's home in the town.
The church also runs Acorns Playgroup; details of which are given on its own page.
If you are in the area we invite you to join with us at any of the meetings of the church.
